Our Story
We're Liora and Mitch (and Joshua!), proud owners of Liora's Whole Pet and family to two dogs and two cats.
We're devoted animal lovers and have supported rescue for over 30 years. When our son Joshua was born, we were already proud parents to several elderly rescue cats, as well as caretakers to a colony of over 25 ferals. Soon we welcomed a new rescue pup who'd been abandoned due to complicated chronic health issues. Through holistic care and nutrition, our new pup improved dramatically and was happy as could be, but sadly his illness caught up with him and we had to say goodbye far earlier than we'd hoped. Broken-hearted and completely devastated, our passion was fired to help as many dogs and cats live the longest, happiest, and healthiest lives possible.
It wasn't long before another special pup entered our lives: Brodie! His story has a similar beginning, but 11 years later he is still with us, living his best life as a retired couch potato. Brodie came to us having recovered from PARVO and Distemper. His rescue group saved his life, and once he was well enough, we were thrilled to adopt him and continue to heal his body and soul. There have been a few bumps in the road, but we are so proud of the lessons we've learned along the way. And Brodie couldn't be happier!
Our second dog, Daisi, also had a very difficult start to her life. Not knowing exactly what the beginning of her story looked like, we knew she almost lost her life but was saved by an amazing vet and the wonderful care she received from the Montgomery County Humane Society. Today, she is a healthy and strong 11 year old lady.
In early 2019, we adopted a pair of feral kittens that were in need of a home. It would be our first time bringing feral cats into our home, but we were well trained and knew exactly what to do. After several months of bonding and acclimating, the kittens, Eragon and Arya, quickly took over (as cats do). These siblings are now confident rulers of their household, spending their days yelling at wild birds through the windows and snuggling with the dogs.
None of this would have been possible without prioritizing wellness!
